Today, Brendan and I decided to celebrate our 7th anniversary by visiting Thorpeness. It is a lovely little village on the Suffolk Coast, which is only a horse and carriage ride away from Aldeburgh and is famous for being the home of the
“House in the Clouds.”

However the main attraction for us was the large boating lake, which we ventured on despite having no idea how to row or steer a boat!

Luckily after ten minutes of rowing round in circles and receiving advice from passersby we managed to get the hang of it and spent a lovely afternoon maneuvering through the islands, which names were inspired by J. M. Barrie, who wrote ‘Peter Pan’.

After we made it safely back to shore we had a picnic on the Meare’s edge, bought an icecream, and had a wandered round the village admiring the wildlife, before heading home. If you are in the area, take a look around, as it was such a lovely relaxing day out.
